Personality: Saber is about as haughty, arrogant, and conceited as they come. It's not so much a front to hide a deeper soul as it is just her personality in general. She believes that she is the best of the best, and as such expects nothing less than the best from the things around her, whether it's about people or the situation she's in. Her expectations can often be set high, almost too high some would even say, but she also has the determination to see that those expectations are met. In other words, she has the capacity of heart and the love of life necessary to enjoy what happens around her. While not necessarily an optimist, a pessimist, or anything in between, Saber simply loves being alive and loves the world around her. Her desire for beauty makes it so that she will always aspire to greater heights, whether it is in herself or by besting the achievements of others.

Though haughty, in truth Saber loves more than anyone. Art, battle, valor, even human beings are all things she adores and loves beyond all else. During her time as emperor of Rome, she did everything in her power to make her people happy or at least what she believed would make them happy. Lavish festivities, grand parties, everything--all that she did, she did for her people and for her love for them. However, she was never returned the favor. According to Saber, her type of love is a "selfish" love; when she loves something or someone, she expects to be loved in return. The idea of loving someone selflessly and being content at just that was completely incomprehensible to her. Despite her love for her people, she was eventually abandoned by them and left with no other choice but to kill herself; it is because of her having died alone, unloved by anyone at all, that she refrained from telling her master of her true name even with the disadvantages that posed. She was well aware of the portrait history had painted of her, and she feared that her master wouldn't like her if they knew who she really was.

Regardless of her own past regrets though, Saber doesn't let them hinder her much. She is bold and direct in everything she does, from her thoughts to her action. Insulting an opponent and letting them know exactly how cowardly they really are is as natural as breathing for her, and the manner in which she lives her life hasn't changed from when she was alive as a human being. She's always enjoyed wearing men's clothes and prefers to be referred to as an emperor or empress rather than a mere princess, yet she also identifies herself as female due to her adoration of beauty and the arts. Naturally, she's not much in a believer of gender roles and prefers to rely on what an individual is capable of and their own natural potential. To top it all off, she flat out admits that she enjoys the company of both men and women without a shred of shame or embarrassment. Saber is the type of person who when she knows what she wants won't let much stand in her way of getting it. As such, she is quite sensitive to criticism when it comes to what she loves i.e. art and will become defensive over her works if critiqued. Likewise, she enjoys praise and flattery and is easily receptive of them.

As abrasive as she might sound though, there are definite reasons as to why she was summoned as a Heroic Spirit. Though demanding and often blunt, she nevertheless encourages her master as best she can. Even when curious as to what her master is thinking, she won't push the topic if she sees that it makes them uncomfortable. Saber detests cowardice, lying, cheating, and everything else along those lines. While more than willing to make use of a natural advantage, she prefers fair play and combat pitting her skills against another rather than sneaky tactics. Towards the end of the game, she even attempts to change how she views love in a way; she says that if her master does not love her, she will work hard to prove that she is indeed worthy of their love. While she understands and agrees that her rule as an emperor was tyrannical and certainly hurt people, she is not ashamed of her past and admits it freely.

Abilities: Saber is, first and foremost, a Servant. She is a summoned Heroic Spirit from the past, the most powerful type of familiar that can be summoned, and as such has many abilities that human beings of the present are no longer capable of. As a Servant of the Saber class, the class almost unanimously agreed upon as the best class, her strength is her greatest asset. While her stats start off pathetically low due to her master's condition, they can be upgraded over the course of the game to make her stronger. It should be noted that even before she became a Servant, Saber was able to strangle a lion bare-handed. Her strength is nothing to make light of.

As a Saber, she naturally has some magic resistance inherent to all Sabers, but hers is a rather low one due to another ability she has that greatly reduces any sort of mental skill i.e. magic. She's capable of simple buffing and a one-time revive spell on herself that will bring her back from a fatal strike, but only once. Her most powerful "magic" would be her noble phantasm, that being Aestus Domus Aurea: Golden Theater of the Deranged. It is a Reality Marble, or in other words, a type of magic that brings the inner world of a person into reality, if only for a few minutes. When Saber has her noble phantasm activated, her attacks will automatically bypass an enemy's guard and also weakens her enemies bit by bit.

Other skills of note are that as a spirit, Saber can phase in and out of corporeal existence i.e. she can become invisible, walk through objects, etc. She can also summon her sword, Aestus Estus: The Embryonic Flame from thin air whenever she needs it. Saber also has a skill that allows her to master any sort of skill that isn't her own for a short amount of time, whether it's Riding, Charisma, or what-have-you.
